The Designers Behind The Louis Vuiiton Fashion Lines

One of the most expensive and luxurious brands in the world, Louis Vuitton has been able to become the 15th most valuable brand  by Forbes. The way they have done this is by designing world leading fashion and prices to match. Louis Vuitton wouldn’t be able to make these trendy styles without the fashion designers that come up with the ideas. So here are the main designers that are able to bring their ideas to life.

Men’s Artistic Director: Virgil Abloh: Born in Rockford, IL in 1980, Virgil earned a degree from University of Madison Wisconsin in civil engineering and a master’s in architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology. In 2012 he started his brand Off-White. He gained a lot of recognition and joined one of the premier French luxury brands. Virgil is the first African American director in Louis Vuitton’s LV-Fashion-designhistory. Virgil replaced former director Kim Jones, and decided to take the brand in a new direction where he combined the old traditional roots with modern fashion. By introducing out of the box clothing backed by some of the biggest hip hop celebrities including Kid Cudi, Playboi Carti, and Kanye West. He is making the brand more relevant and trendy which is incredibly important in this social media age with hip hop artists and other celebrities heavily promoting their brands in songs such as, Versace by Migos and Givenchy by DDG.

Women’s Artistic Director: Nicolas Ghesquière: Born in Northern France in 1971, Nicolas grew up in luxury. At age 14 while still in school he started working at various internships such as Agnès B and Corinne Cobson. After graduating he worked for various fashion designers until he landed a job with Balenciaga eventually working his way up to become creative director of Balenciaga. There he designed high contrasting clothes that brought Balenciaga from the ashes. In 2001 he won the CFDA International Designer Award. After his tenure there he jumped to Louis Vuitton replacing Marc Jacobs in late 2013. From there he has been designing the same eye popping designs he is famous for. While still traditional in some sense he is just as daring as Virgil Abloh in creating trendy clothing to attract younger buyers.

Louis Vuitton has carried its tradition of being the ultimate luxury fashion brand since its founding in 1854. However, especially in recent times Louis Vuitton has been experiencing immense competition from the likes of other luxury brands including Gucci, Versace, Givenchy Dior, Chanel, Supreme, Balenciaga, etc. With the help of these fashion masterminds, Virgil Abloh and Nicolas Ghesquière, they have been able to re-excite the brand with new designs and collaborations keeping the Louis Vuitton brand at the top of it’s competitors.
